The World Health Organization has classified the coronavirus outbreak as a global health emergency, and governments around the world are taking action to control the virus from continuously spreading. The illness caused by the virus, COVID-19, has claimed the over 1 million lives and has sickened 30 million people in more than 190 countries.
COVID-19 has shown that Universal Health Coverage, strong public health systems and emergency preparedness are essential to communities and to economies. The pandemic’s impact won’t just be felt for a few weeks but for months and perhaps years to come. Since the scale of the crisis became apparent over the last year, Qismat Trust has been working hard to keep our members informed and to share information about the United Nation’s new initiative towards Universal Health Coverage as part of the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development.
Leveraging the Micro-Donations Platform and Qismat’s ‘Return-on-Donation’ ethos, Qismat aims to raise $8.6 billion and have a positive impact on the lives of 1.4 billion people across 20 nations. The countries highlighted within our Beneficiary Impact are amongst the most in need of economic developmental assistance within the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation, the second largest governing body to the United Nations.
Qismat’s development agenda will benefit three spheres of assistance: Humanitarianism (human need – providing immediate response and relief, aid packages and medical goods), Philanthropy (social advancement – long term research and policy implementation) and Development (sustainable economic growth – improving microeconomic factors such as education, unemployment and literacy rates).
Iconic Rickshaws for Relief (IRFR) presented by Qismat is a charitable campaign aimed at raising funds and awareness of the inequalities faced by disadvantaged communities still persistent today in many developing countries.
Qismat envisions the rickshaw - an icon across developing and emerging nations - as a beacon of hope. They provide a means of sustainable livelihoods, access to remote regions and allow those living in rural areas to participate in economic activities such as the trading of goods and services. In aligning ourselves with the United Nation’s 8 Millennium Development Goals to form the basis of our philanthropic and humanitarian agenda, Qismat chooses it’s implementing partners based on these goals in an effort to end extreme poverty by 2015.
Iconic Rickshaws for Relief sees a collection of rickshaws designed by high profile brands, artists, designers and cultural visionaries come alive as they descend upon London at Royal Festival Hall (Southbank Centre), museums and galleries, and participate in the Cultural Olympiad this spring and summer culminating in a gala auction. The rickshaws will be brought to life by our designers who represent a kaleidoscope of artistic talent using media techniques from vinyl wraps and luxurious fabrics to photography and sculpting to craft their works of art.
As their nostalgic charm transport us, we hope you will join us on our journey to global prosperity.
The Qismat passport is a compilation of the next 20 largest growth markets in the developing world. These are 20 nations where our Qismat Micro Donations Platform will have the greatest beneficiary impact. According to Goldman Sachs, these countries also have a high potential for becoming the largest economies (excluding BRICs) in the 21st century.
Our proprietary Micro Donations Platform “MDP” allows for long-term sustainable fundraising with multiple beneficiaries and exponential social multipliers.
The Qismat MDP is a locally attuned solution which empowers citizens to participate in the sustained development of a country's socio-economic status whilst providing a value proposition for all stakeholders.
In order to maximise beneficiary impact over the long-term, Qismat’s MDP has four critical core elements which revolve around an interactive Engagement Algorithm comprising of a formulaic Return on Donation strategy, a dynamic Fund Allocation system, and a sophisticated Social Enterprise hybrid network.
