Iconic Rickshaws for Relief (IRFR) presented by Qismat is a charitable campaign aimed at raising funds and awareness of the inequalities faced by disadvantaged communities still persistent today in many developing countries.
Qismat envisions the rickshaw - an icon across developing and emerging nations - as a beacon of hope. They provide a means of sustainable livelihoods, access to remote regions and allow those living in rural areas to participate in economic activities such as the trading of goods and services. In aligning ourselves with the United Nation’s 8 Millennium Development Goals to form the basis of our philanthropic and humanitarian agenda, Qismat chooses it’s implementing partners based on these goals in an effort to end extreme poverty by 2015.
Iconic Rickshaws for Relief sees a collection of rickshaws designed by high profile brands, artists, designers and cultural visionaries come alive as they descend upon London at Royal Festival Hall (Southbank Centre), museums and galleries, and participate in the Cultural Olympiad this spring and summer culminating in a gala auction. The rickshaws will be brought to life by our designers who represent a kaleidoscope of artistic talent using media techniques from vinyl wraps and luxurious fabrics to photography and sculpting to craft their works of art.
As their nostalgic charm transport us, we hope you will join us on our journey to global prosperity.
